Russ Turner – 600 (City of London) Squadron

Russ Turner joined the RAF in 1988, serving for 6 years, and serving in operational theatres of Norther Ireland and the Gulf. He left Regular Service to concentrate on his new family, settling into life in Yateley, Hampshire. However, he could not resist the allure of life in a ‘blue suit’, and, in November 2000, he joined 600 (City of London) Squadron as a Personnel Administrator. His love of the RAF was evident from the start! He embraced everything that Service life had to offer and truly shone with enthusiasm. Russ left the Royal Auxiliary Air Force in November 2005 and a short time later received a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease. He kept himself busy restoring RAF Officers’ swords. The last one restored was presented to OC 600 Squadron for safe keeping. It hangs proudly in Squadron Headquarters at RAF Northolt.

Russ is survived by his wife Laura and children Joshua, Samuel and Olivia.
