His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester KG GCVO

His Royal Highness became the Foundation’s Patron in February 2012. Some years earlier, in September 2004, he had attended the Foundation’s Dedication Service  of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum and, in October 2012, now as Patron, the Foundation’s Dedication Service of the the Royal Auxiliary Air Force Roll of Honour and the Laying Up of the first Sovereign’s Colour in in the Royal Air Force Church of St Clement Danes.

In August 2015, His Royal Highness was appointed  Honorary Air Commodore of 501 (County of Gloucester) Squadron based at Brize Norton – an appointment also held by his father, the former Duke of Gloucester. His mother, Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, was Commandant of the Womens’ Auxiliary Air Force from 1939 to 1944.

In August 2023, Buckingham Palace announced the appointment of His Royal Highness as  the Air Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force.
