About Us – Our Mission
The Foundation’s mission is to provide a focal point for researching, recording and promoting the history and achievements of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force from its formation in 1924 up to the present day. This includes:
- Maintaining the Force Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas in Staffordshire.
- Arranging for an annual ceremony at the Force Memorial to:
- Pay tribute to all those from from the Force who have died whilst on duty.
- Remember all those who have served in the Force since its founding in 1924.
- Dedicate Memorial Stones to nominated individuals who have served in the Force.
- Maintaining the Force Roll of Honour at the Royal Air Force Church of St Clement Danes in London.
- Maintaining a pictorial pageant of the Force’s history and arranging for its display at suitable locations.
- Promoting awareness of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force and its history through this website.
- Seeking and maintaining an archive for noteworthy documents and memorabilia.
- Establishing links with like-minded organisations.
