New Air Commodore-in-Chief

On 12th August 2023, Buckingham Palace announced that His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester would succeed Her late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, as Air Commodore-in Chief of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force. It is the Duke’s third appointment with Force, his first being when he became Patron of the Force’s charity, the Royal Auxiliary Air Force Foundation, in August 2012, and the second, in July 2016 when he became Honorary Air Commodore of 501 (County of Gloucester) Squadron – an appointment also held by his father, the former Duke of Gloucester.
